Description

Leaflet for the exhibition, All God's Children Got Shoes, at the Miami-Dade Cultural Center, June 18 – September 3, 1999. The second page of the leaflet reads: Working Shoes, running shoes, walking shoes, traveling shoes, old shoes, new shoes, etc.. All God’s Children Got Shoes. In the United States, about 250 million pair of shoes are produced annually. Americans are into shoes for comfort, status, and style. This exhibition was an opportunity to take a common object, present it to artists as a concept. Size was a consideration, but function was not. These artist-created shoes are not for earthly streets. Participating artists include: Allen Jones, Evann Black, Elmer Craig, Carlos Alves, Maria Brito, Brain Curtis, Rosemarie Chiarlone, Lynne Golob Gelfman, Susan Banks and many more.
