Leaflet for the exhibition, Dresden: Treasures from the Saxon State and University Library, at the Miami-Dade Public Library System, April 10 – June 7, 2003. The second page of the leaflet reads: The origin of the Saxon State and University Library (SLUB) goes back to 1556. It was established by Prince Elector Augustus (1526-1586), as the Court Library when Dresden was the seat of the Saxon monarchs. Succeeding rulers fostered the arts and culture and continued to add remarkable items to the library’s holdings. Dresden: Treasures from the Saxon State and University Library the exhibition includes over 120 objects from the 447-year-old German Library.
