Description

Catalog for the exhibition, New Women Artists, at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in New Zealand, June 1984. The second page reads: New Women Artists presents the spirit, colour, and energy of the eighties. Women artists are producing the goods of quality and the work gets through. There are many women working in the visual arts as art critics, in art schools and in galleries, all with as much ability as men have ever displayed. All the women in this exhibition see themselves as artists- not political artists, not feminist artists or any other label of artist but simply as artists. Artists participating include: Leonie Arnold, Ingrid Banwell, Heather Busch, Debra Bustin, Nancy De Freitas, Charo Oquet, Angela Porteous, Bianca Van Rangelrooy, Pauline Thompson, Christine Webster, and Delyn Williams.
