Booklet for an exhibition, Book as Art X at the National Museum of Women in the Arts Library and Research Center, June 15, 1998 – January 16, 1999. The introduction reads: Charles Baudelaire, in his theory of correspondence claims that all the arts are related. As Enid Starkie noted: “Baudelaire dreamed of complete fusion of all the arts, of one total expression of beauty appealing to all senses at once.” This fusion of many artistic disciplines is demonstrated in the fifty-seven artist’s books and related works presented in the exhibition Book as Art X. Participating artists include: Maria Anasazi, Ida Applebroog, Gaza Bowen, Rosamond Casey, Rosemarie Chiarlone, among others.
